Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, graduates will be able to:

Appraise theoretical and practical techniques for research and advanced academic enquiry in project management

Conceptualise, design and implement a project for the generation of new knowledge, applications or understanding at the forefront of the discipline, and adjust the project design in light of unforeseen problems

Systematic acquisition and appraisal of a substantial body of knowledge at the forefront of the academic discipline or area of professional practice in project management

Master the creation and interpretation of new knowledge, through original research or other advanced scholarship, of a quality to satisfy peer review, extend the forefront of the discipline of project management, and merit publication

Interpret and critically evaluate and create new knowledge through research and/or scholarship of publishable quality to satisfy peer review and merit publication

Formulate independently and proactively research plans, ideas and hypotheses and design, develop, implement and execute plans to evaluate these

Develop capacity to think critically and make informed judgements on complex issues in specialist fields, often in the absence of complete data

Assume autonomy to undertake pure and/or applied research and development

Develop advanced skills to communicate ideas and conclusions clearly and effectively to specialist and non-specialist audiences

Assume full responsibility, reflecting on learning to substantially contribute to the development of new techniques, ideas or approaches

Academic Requirements10

1A recognised Master's degree in a subject related to the programme with a cumulative GPA greater than 3.0 on a 4.0-point scale (or equivalent)
2A recognised Bachelor's degree in a subject related to the programme, in a field related to Project Management (those without sufficient background need to complete additional master's-level courses)
3Minimum TOEFL score of 550 (213 CBT, 79 iBT) or IELTS academic score of 6.0, or equivalent recognised test approved by MOHESR
4Chosen area of Project Management study must be one which can be supervised by staff within the University
5Initial research proposal, including motivation to study for a PhD, discussed through an interview
6Certificate of equivalency issued by MOHESR for degrees awarded outside the UAE
7Copy of passport and Emirates ID; Al Ethbara Number for UAE nationals
8Relevant work experience (3+ years preferred)
9Satisfactory admissions interview
10Satisfactory supporting references
