Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) offered by Gulf Medical University provides a unique opportunity to physical therapists to elevate their level of clinical practice, advance their careers, and become leaders in the physical therapy profession. Equipped with cutting-edge technologies in Thumbay Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Hospital, this program offers state-of-the-art educational, clinical, and research experiences for physical therapists interested in gaining advanced expertise in the field of physical therapy and rehabilitation. Master of physical therapy is a two-year (41 credits) program spanning four semesters and accredited by Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA), UAE. The program is aligned with the Qualifications Framework Emirates (2012) Level 9. This program provides a variety of opportunities for students to learn through didactics, problem-based learning, team-based learning, online learning, skill labs, evidence-based clinical physiotherapy practice and research project which leads to successful completion and the award of MPT degree. MPT program received initial accreditation from CAA, UAE in May 2013. The primary clinical training center for the MPT program is Thumbay Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Hospital located in Thumbay Medicity with state-of-art research facilities was inaugurated in 2017. The first cohort of students were registered in September 2018. The MPT program is approved for Renewal of Program Accreditation in recognition of its compliance with the Standards for Licensure and Accreditation, UAE in the year 2022. Movement is life. Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) prepares physical therapy professional with highly-developed clinical reasoning skills to prevent, assess, diagnose and treat people with movement problems in the areas of orthopedic, sports, neurological, cardio-pulmonary, women’s health, pediatrics, oncology, emergency, aged care, and community service With critical enquiry and evidence-based practice as the foundation, the program promotes the acquisition of cutting-edge clinical and research skills/behaviors that are essential for a physical therapy practice in a complex and continually evolving health care environment. This program provides quality graduates who contribute significantly to the wider community, by using non-invasive, physical activity-based lifestyle promotion for healthy body and graduates with potential to self-learn to grow professionally and to respond to change and challenges.
