Master of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences program (MSc. MLS) at Gulf Medical University is a graduate program aimed to equip students with advanced Microbiology, Hematology and Transfusion Sciences, Clinical Chemistry, Immunology, molecular techniques, and evidence-based professional practice training as a next-generation clinical scientist. The program is delivered over 2 years duration (36 credits) with program learning outcomes aligned to Level 9 of the National Qualifications Framework – QF Emirates. The program prepares the MSc. MLS graduates for further PhD studies, teaching assistantship in the lab, research assistantship in universities, research centres and biomedical corporations (R&D). The program is designed to integrate all essential elements of medical laboratory science that a practitioner requires, covering areas such as communication skills, information technology, molecular diagnostics and bioinformatics, immunology and immunogenetics, medical microbiology, hematology, transfusion medicine, clinical biochemistry, and laboratory management and quality assurance. Courses in biostatistics and research methodology will equip students with the skills to design research protocols, fostering investigatory and analytical thinking. The final semester is dedicated to completion of research work, culminating in a thesis submission, along with a work-based learning experience through laboratory rotations. Our Master of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences is a professional degree designed to meet the needs of the Clinical Laboratory Scientist in an increasingly complex healthcare environment. This degree includes a clinical experience and research project. It features the advanced hands-on MLS studies at one of our nationwide affiliate clinical and research facilities. Areas of study include laboratory administration, clinical laboratory science education and medical laboratory practice in Medical Microbiology, Clinical Biochemistry, Hematology and transfusion medicine, Immunology and Molecular Biology.
